The line forms at the door for the hundreds and thousands of outraged citizens — I guess it’s millions, actually — who are demanding that Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman be fired for the on-air anti-gay slur he delivered Wednesday night.

We’ll get to that in a moment. First, let me tell you about what it was like to come out as gay — Jan. 6, 2011 — and about the supportive text messages from the likes of Red Sox manager Terry Francona and infielders Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia. And that was before breakfast.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft called. Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck sent an email. Bobby Orr called. Twice.
