College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, schedule, games today: Memphis opens season, SMU survives test –

College football’s gradual grand opening in 2020 takes another on step Saturday when nine FBS teams make their season debuts within a slate of six games spanning from Marshall hosting Eastern Kentucky to UTEP taking on Stephen F. Austin. It will be a far cry from the excitement that awaits next week when ACC and Big 12 teams start playing, and it certainly won’t compare to the frenzy of the SEC kicking off in two weeks.

But with bowl teams from last season — Marshall, SMU, Arkansas State and Memphis — all in action Saturday, college football fans will finally be able to camp out in front of the television for a full day and get their fix. There’s a lot to cover with those games and everything in between. CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the day. All times Eastern
