Jurgen Klopp has explained where Takumi Minamino will play for Liverpool after the arrival of Diogo Jota.
Minamino scored twice and had an excellent game for the Reds against Lincoln City on Thursday night, while Jota came on just before the hour mark in place of the lively Harvey Elliott.
Both Jota and Minamino are attack-minded players and there has been a question about where both might fit in Klopp’s set-up.
After Liverpool’s 7-2 win the in the third round of the Carabao Cup, Klopp was asked if Minamino would now end up playing in the centre more for Liverpool, given that £41million summer signing Jota plays primarily on the wing.
Klopp said: “I loved Taki’s game tonight, it was absolutely outstanding.
“He was involved in so many situations, more and more we all realise where his qualities are.
“He will play and he will end up in the centre – even if he plays on the left-wing or the right-wing he will play in the half spaces and end up in the centre. That’s where he has his real strength.
“We had more than seven times to face kick-off tonight and he was the first guy who chased the kick-off and received the pass.
“He set the rhythm for these counter-pressing situations. I really really liked the game tonight.”
